Ear Surgery
Ear surgery is performed on patients who were born with disfigured ears such as lop ear, cupped ear, shell ear, stretched earlobes, lobes with large creases and wrinkles. Ear structure can also be damaged by injury or may develop over time, the slightest of ear disfigurements can cause a large impact on the appearance of the individual, which can result in low self-esteem. Otoplasty (ear surgery) is most commonly practiced for patients with large ears (macrotia) or protruding ears. Surgeries can also be performed for patients who are suffering from pain or hearing loss.
Otoplasty leaves a faint scar on each ear that fades with time. Patients of all ages usually feel back to normal after a few hours, and stitches are removed within the week.
